Close Protection

A bodyguard at RISC GROUP is not merely a traditional security guard, but a professionally trained Close Protection Officer (CPO) specialising in personal protection, risk assessment and advanced security planning.

Close Protection is not about visible force, but about control, foresight and preparation. Our CPOs work proactively to identify, analyse and mitigate risks before they develop into actual threats. This approach ensures security while preserving the client’s freedom of movement, comfort and daily routine.

Planning, Risk Assessment and Preparation

Before an assignment begins, the Close Protection Officer conducts a thorough and structured risk and threat assessment. This includes analysis of:

  • Client profile and public exposure

  • Threat level and historical incidents

  • Locations, environments and schedules

  • Movement patterns and routines

Based on this assessment, secure routes, alternative routes, arrival and departure options, and emergency and contingency plans are established. The objective is to maintain full situational control and operational flexibility at all times.

Reconnaissance and Operational Security

A core element of Close Protection is advance reconnaissance. This involves detailed assessment of venues, access and escape routes, transport logistics and environmental security factors prior to any arrival or movement.

During operations, the CPO maintains constant situational awareness, monitoring behavioural changes, surroundings and potential indicators of risk — always with discretion and professionalism, and with the client’s safety, comfort and privacy as top priorities.

When is a Bodyguard / CPO Used?

RISC GROUP’s Close Protection Officers are commonly deployed in connection with:

  • Executive and leadership protection

  • High-profile or public individuals

  • Diplomats and international guests

  • Business travel, meetings and events

  • Situations involving elevated threat levels

  • Individuals experiencing stalking, harassment or repeated safety concerns

  • Clients requiring temporary or long-term personal security

In cases involving stalking or personal safety concerns, a CPO provides not only physical protection but also structure, guidance and reassurance, helping clients regain confidence and freedom in their daily lives.

Protection Profiles: Covert, Low Profile or Overt

Close Protection assignments can be conducted using different operational profiles, depending on the client’s needs and the threat environment:

  • Covert – completely discreet and concealed protection

  • Low profile – unobtrusive presence without attracting attention

  • Overt – visible protection, for example in full business attire, where presence itself serves as a deterrent

The chosen profile is always adapted to the situation, environment and client preference.
